All Port Authority of NY & NJ Crossings Fully Upgraded to Cashless Tolling

12/15/2022 - On December 11th the last of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's cash toll booths were deactivated at the Lincoln Tunnel. This is the final part of the agency’s upgrade to a new state-of-the-art tolling system utilizing the automatic all-cashless toll collection system. Yonkers Contracting has been a part of the Port Authority's cashless tolling projects at the George Washington Bridge, Goethals Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing, Holland Tunnel, and Lincoln Tunnel.

The change to all electronic tolls is the culmination of a $500 million, five-year effort to switch from manual to electronic toll collection at the Port Authority’s six crossings between New Jersey and New York. The next phase will be a multi-year undertaking to coordinate demolition around already planned repairs and routine maintenance work at the George Washington Bridge and the two Hudson River tunnels.
