We are proud to announce that the emergency rapid bridge repair in Norwalk, Connecticut, led by Yonkers Contracting, has been honored with the 2025 AASHTO America’s Transportation Award. On May 2, 2024, a tanker truck accident ignited a fire that caused severe structural damage to an I‑95 overpass in Norwalk, prompting Governor Ned Lamont to declare a state of emergency and shut down the highway in both directions. At CTDOT’s request, Yonkers Contracting mobilized immediately, working around the clock from Friday through Sunday morning to demolish the damaged overpass, clear impacted lanes, and reopen I‑95 in time for the Monday morning commute. The bridge was replaced in a record seven months by Yonkers Contracting Company.
