PROJECT Route 17/32 Design-Build
Highways and Bridges
AUXILIARY LANES, RESURFACING, AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ON I-95 – CITY OF STAMFORD
Yonkers Contracting Company (YCC) continues to make significant progress on the I-95 Stamford Design-Build project.
Phase 2 was successfully completed, which involved widening I-95 between Exits 6 and 7 and constructing two new auxiliary lanes. This work required the excavation of approximately 20,000 cubic yards of rock and soil from the side slopes, the installation of nearly 3,500 linear feet of noise wall, a complete rehabilitation of the drainage system, and the installation of new Intelligent Management System (IMS) infrastructure and a modern highway lighting system.
Phase 3 is currently underway and advancing on schedule. This phase includes the full reconstruction of the left shoulders on both the northbound and southbound sides of the highway, along with the removal and replacement of the precast median barrier. As part of the comprehensive median reconstruction, we are also rehabilitating the median drainage system and installing a new lighting system. Phase 3 is anticipated to be completed by the end of September.
Phase 4 is scheduled to begin in early October. This final stage will include final surface paving, the installation of all permanent traffic signage—including four new overhead cantilever sign structures—and the placement of new guide rail and impact attenuator devices.
The project remains on track to achieve substantial completion by the end of this calendar year.
