PROJECT Ridge Hill Village (Forest City Ratner)
Sitework & Foundation
Ridge Hill Village (Forest City Ratner)
High above the Thruway and Sprain Lake, the prominent Ridge Hill Village development has created a new regional shopping designation with twelve blocks of elegant shopping and dining, entertainment and five six-level parking structures. Transforming the 80-acre site, Yonkers crews leveled the mountaintop, installed underground utilities and built the foundations to support this development.
To access this new destination, Yonkers constructed a new interchange at the NYS Thruway and the access roadway up the hill from the east; and carved a high-walled boulevard into the western hillside to provide access from the Sprain Brook Parkway and Tuckahoe Road.
Working with the developer from the early stages of the project, Yonkers provided value in building the challenging ‘western alignment’ roadway with profile modifications that resulted in significant time and cost savings.
The $250 million sitework and excavation contract included earthwork, rock blasting, grading, drainage, foundations, concrete, retaining walls, stormwater facilities and utilities. Much of the excavated rock was crushed on site and then used as road base and select fill.
